Healthy Development
Naturally, you want your child to be strong and healthy. The podiatrists at Langmore Podiatry can help lead you and your child to healthy feet. Those little developing feet will have to carry the entire weight of the body through a lifetime of standing, walking and running. Recent research has revealed that certain foot types (flat feet or high arched feet) can predispose children to certain sports injuries and problems later in life. Further, from birth, children's feet are largely made of cartilage before they become bone. This is an important period of development for children’s feet and the experienced podiatrists at Langmore Podiatry can assist in ensuring that your child’s feet are developing properly during this period.
Soreness
If you are concerned that your child’s feet do not look or function ‘normally’, or if your child has indicated that his or her feet are sore, then having an accredited podiatrist assess your child’s feet can resolve any soreness and prevent problems in the future. We are able to provide footwear advice, address any concerns you may have about your child’s feet and treat many conditions affecting children’s feet, including warts, ingrown nails, and foot pain.
Ballet
At Langmore Podiatry, we are also able to assess your daughter's feet to determine whether she is ready to move to pointe work. This assessment covers many important areas, including appropriate range of motion of joints, strength and control, and balance. It is recommended that your daughter be assessed approximately 4 months before moving to pointe work, as this period provides time to address any identified issues. Further, once your daughter begins pointe work, our podiatrists are able to address injuries and assess and modify pointe shoes to allow your daughter to continue pointe work with comfort.
